Notice on the application of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR)
Under Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the National Union of Public Notaries of Romania is, by law, a controller of personal data and is required to process the personal data provided to it by natural persons securely and only for the purposes specified.
UNNPR, through its Registry and Communication Service, processes the personal data submitted by the natural persons who contact it, by manual and automated means. To register a request, personal data must be provided in order to identify the applicant and communicate the reply to them. The data thus collected are not further processed in a manner incompatible with that purpose and are kept for a set period, in accordance with the law in force.
The information recorded is intended for use by UNNPR as controller of personal data and is communicated to public notaries, public authorities or other institutions solely for the purpose of dealing with requests.
Under Regulation (EU) 2016/679, data subjects have the right of access, the right to rectification of the data, to their erasure, to restriction of processing, to data portability, the right to object and the right not to be subject to an automated individual decision.
To exercise these rights, data subjects may submit a written request to the UNNPR head office at Strada General Berthelot nr. 41, sector 1, Bucharest, or to the email address rgpd@unnpr.ro.
Further information on personal data processing activities can be obtained on our website www.uniuneanotarilor.ro or by telephone, on the numbers 021/313.99.20, 021/313.99.23, 021/313.99.37 or 021/313.99.41.
Who processes the data
The controller is the National Union of Public Notaries of Romania, with its head office at Strada General Berthelot nr. 41, Sector 1, București, 010169. For any request concerning your data you can contact us at secretariat@unnpr.ro.
Why we process the data
- dealing with petitions, complaints and requests for information;
- meeting the legal obligations incumbent on the Union;
- managing relations with public notaries and partner institutions;
- communications of professional interest, on the basis of consent.
The data published in „Find a notary”
The site publishes the list of practising public notaries so that anyone can identify and contact a notary. Only professional dataare displayed: the notary's name, the name and address of the office, secondary offices, the locality, the county, the Chamber they belong to, the office's telephone number and email address, the opening hours and the foreign languages they work in. No data concerning the notary's private life are published.
The basis for this processing is the legal obligation incumbent on the Union and the performance of a task carried out in the public interest, under Article 6(1)(c) and (e) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, on the basis of Law no. 36/1995 on public notaries and notarial activity, republished, under which the Union keeps the record of public notaries. Publication is not based on consent, so there is no consent that could be withdrawn; a public notary may, however, exercise the other rights listed below.
The source of the data is the official report of public notaries, taken periodically into the Union's records. The site does not collect this information directly from notaries and does not supplement it from other sources. The position of the office on the map is calculated automatically from the published address, through the OpenStreetMap service, and adds no new information beyond it.
A public notary who finds that the data displayed are wrong or out of date can write to us at rgpd@unnpr.ro. The correction is made in the Union's records, and the site takes it up at the next update of the list.
What rights you have
How long we keep the data
Data are kept only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which they were collected and in line with the statutory archiving periods. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect them against unauthorised access, loss or disclosure.
The data in the register of public notaries, including the position of the office on the map, are kept for as long as the notary appears in the Union's records. A new address replaces the old one, with no history of previous offices being kept, and the record of a notary who no longer appears in the register is permanently deleted within at most 30 days of the list being updated.
Your coordinates, when you use the „Notary near me” button, are never saved. They are used solely to sort the results of that search by distance and disappear with the reply; they reach no log and are transmitted to no one.
The site's security log retains administrative actions and login attempts for 90 days, and the IP addresses in it are anonymised after 30 days. The basis is the legitimate interest in protecting the site against unauthorised access, under Article 6(1)(f) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
To exercise your rights, or for questions about data processing, send a request to secretariat@unnpr.ro or through the section petitions and complaints. How the site uses cookies and external services is described separately, in the Cookie policy.
