Notarial procedures

Whether you are selling a house, receiving an inheritance or ending a marriage, the public notary gives your documents security and force before the law. Choose the procedure that concerns you and find out how it works and what documents to prepare. Here you will also find how notarial charges are calculated, along with the other taxes the notary collects on behalf of other institutions.

Authentication

Contracts, declarations and powers of attorney executed before a notary, with enforceable effect and a certified date.

Details

Succession proceedings

Succession proceedings establish the heirs, their shares and the assets making up the estate. The certificate of heir proves that status and the entitlement to the inherited assets.

Details

Notarial divorce

Amicable divorce by agreement of the spouses, before a public notary.

Details

Certification of a signature

Signed before the notary, your signature can no longer be denied: the notary attests that it is yours, for documents the law does not require to be in authenticated form.

Details

Certification of copies

The notary compares the copy with the original document and certifies that it conforms: proof that what you present reproduces the original exactly.

Details

Certification of translations

A translation made and certified by an authorised translator, with the signature certified by a notary, can be used before any authority.

Details

Affixing a certified date

From the certified date affixed by the notary, no one can claim that your document was drawn up later: the date becomes enforceable against anyone.

Details

Certification of facts

Observed in person by the notary (that someone is alive, present in a place, or has answered a formal notice), facts acquire proof of their existence.

Details

Receipt into safekeeping

Entrusted to the notary, your documents, papers and valuables are held securely and returned on the date set out in the certificate.

Details

Issuing duplicates

From the copy kept in the notary's archive you may request a duplicate which has, by law, the same evidential force as the original.

Details

Notarial legal advice

Before the document is executed, the notary explains the legal relationships involved and gives you the guidance you need on the effects of what you are about to sign.
