How to become a notary with at least 6 years in a legal specialist role

The Romanian Notarial Institute organises, for the posts approved by an updating order issued by the Minister of Justice, the admission competition for persons with at least 6 years in a legal specialist role, nationally for those registered with all the Chambers of Public Notaries, whenever necessary but at least once every 2 years.

The admission competition consists of two written papers, one theoretical and one practical, on the competition syllabus. The minimum average pass mark is 7.00, provided that you obtain at least 5.00 in each paper.

A public notary checking the files of the successful candidates

Once you are declared successful in this competition, the UNNPR Council will validate the results, and you will then state your preference for a public notary post, in order of the averages obtained, among the places within the Chamber where you entered the competition and within the limit of the places set out in the updating order issued by the Minister of Justice.

03

Appointment
to the office
of public
notary

A practical training course run by the Romanian Notarial Institute

The Minister of Justice will then appoint you as a public notary by order, you will take the oath and you will follow the courses on practical training for practising as a notary and on organising the work of a notarial office, run by the INR for a period set by the Council of the Union, on payment of the relevant fees. You will then be able to take the steps needed to begin practising.

Further information about the admission competition for persons with at least 6 years in a legal specialist role can be found in the Regulation on the organisation and conduct of the final examination and of the admission competition for the office of public notary, approved by Order of the Minister of Justice no. 1494/C/2014, as subsequently amended and supplemented.
