Primary Legislation
Main normative acts regulating the profession
Notarial activity in Romania is governed chiefly by:
- Law no. 36/1995 on public notaries and notarial activity;
- The regulation implementing Law no. 36/1995;
- The statute of the National Union of Public Notaries of Romania;
- The code of ethics of public notaries;
- Order no. 177/C/2024 approving the Rules on minimum fee scales for the services provided by public notaries.
- The regulation on organising and holding the examination or competition for the status of trainee notary, approved by Order no. 1727/2024 of the Minister of Justice;
- The regulation on organising and holding the final examination and the admission competition for the office of public notary, approved by Order no. 1494/C/2014 of the Minister of Justice, as subsequently amended and supplemented.
