Affixing a certified date
A firm date, recognised against anyone: the public notary confirms that an instrument existed at a given moment, and that point in time becomes enforceable against everyone.
By granting a certified date, the public notary gives an instrument a firm date, recognised against anyone. From that moment, the existence of the document on that date can no longer be doubted.
It is useful above all for private instruments, giving them a definite point in time that is enforceable against persons other than those who signed them.
In the ruling, the notary records the date (year, month, day) and, at your request, the time as well, together with the state and particular features of the instrument.
What it costs
Minimum notarial fees are set by the Rules on minimum fee scales, approved by order of the Minister of Justice. The notary may set a higher fee, depending on the complexity of the work, but never below the statutory minimum.
Affixing a certified date is a document that cannot be valued in money, with a fixed fee. The minimum fee is 150 lei.
