Certification of copies
A copy true to the original: the public notary compares the copy with the original instrument you produce and attests that it reproduces the document exactly, in the state in which it was issued.
A public notary issues certified copies only after comparing the copy with the original instrument you produce, attesting that it conforms to the original, in the state in which it was issued.
What can be certified
Either the whole instrument or only part of it may be certified, in which case it is marked „EXTRACT”, provided the meaning of the document is not distorted.
If the original is in a language other than Romanian, the certified copy is issued together with the authorised translation into Romanian →
Please note: certified copies issued from the notarial archive are valid for 6 months.
Copies of identity documents
For copies of identity documents or travel documents, the ruling states the purpose for which the copy will be used.
What it costs
Minimum notarial fees are set by the Rules on minimum fee scales, approved by order of the Minister of Justice. The notary may set a higher fee, depending on the complexity of the work, but never below the statutory minimum.
Certification of copies carries a fixed fee, calculated per page: a minimum of 5 lei for each page of a copy of the instrument you produce, and a minimum of 7 lei per page where the copy is issued from a document held in the notary's archive.
